Galteshwar is best understood as one stop on a small Kheda-Mahisagar circuit rather than a standalone destination. The obvious pairing is Dakor, 10 to 15 km away, home to the celebrated Ranchhodrai temple, one of Gujarat's most important Krishna pilgrimage centres. The two make a natural single-day itinerary: the grand, thronged Vaishnav shrine at Dakor and the serene, stone-carved Shaiva monument at the river's edge.
Further along the Mahisagar belt you can add other old Shiva sites such as Utkanteshwar Mahadev. Because the region is dotted with Chaulukya-era and later shrines, travellers with an interest in temple architecture often treat Galteshwar as the quiet highlight, the place where the crowds thin and the carving does the talking, before or after the busier Dakor darshan.
