Shri Banke Bihari Temple, Vrindavan: How to Reach

Shri Banke Bihari: How to ReachBanke Bihari sits deep inside old Vrindavan's lanes, so the last stretch is always on foot. The nearest railway station is Mathura Junction (approx 12 km).
Reaching by rail, road and air
ModePointDistanceNotes
RailMathura Junctionapprox 12 kmBest-connected railhead, on the Delhi-Agra-Mumbai trunk route. Take an auto, taxi or shared tempo onward to Vrindavan, then walk the final lanes.
Rail (local)Vrindavan railway stationapprox 5 to 6 kmSmall station on a branch line with limited services; usable but far fewer trains than Mathura Junction.
AirAgra Airport (Kheria)approx 72 kmNearest airport but with limited scheduled flights; road transfer about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Air (major)Delhi (Indira Gandhi International)approx 150 kmThe practical airport for most visitors; 3 to 4 hours by road via the Yamuna Expressway.
RoadMathura cityapprox 13 kmFrequent buses, taxis and autos on the Mathura-Vrindavan road. Park in the outer lots and continue by e-rickshaw or on foot.

The honest truth of reaching Banke Bihari is that the final approach is always on foot through a tight bazaar lane, and no car, taxi or even e-rickshaw gets you to the door. Aim your transport at outer Vrindavan and accept a short walk through the galiyara at the end.

For trains, Mathura Junction at about 12 km is the workhorse, sitting on the main Delhi to Agra and Mumbai line with plentiful services; from there an auto or shared tempo brings you into Vrindavan. Vrindavan's own little station is nearer at roughly 5 to 6 km but runs only a thin branch-line service, so most people still route through Mathura.

By air, Agra's Kheria airport is closest at about 72 km but thinly served, so nearly everyone flies into Delhi, around 150 km away, and drives down the Yamuna Expressway in three to four hours. From Mathura city, about 13 km out, buses, taxis and autos run constantly on the Mathura-Vrindavan road. Whichever way you come, park in the outer lots, switch to an e-rickshaw, and finish on foot.
