Koteshwar & Narayan Sarovar: Timings & Darshan Hours

The single most useful thing to understand about visiting here is the midday shutdown. Like many working temples in rural Gujarat, both Koteshwar and the Narayan Sarovar shrines close through the hot middle of the day and reopen only in the late afternoon. Since the drive from Bhuj alone eats four to five hours, an ill-timed departure can leave you standing at locked doors around 1 or 2 PM.

Sources disagree on the exact clock. Koteshwar is quoted both as 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and as 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Narayan Sarovar is more consistently listed as 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The safe read: the temples are reliably open in the early morning and again from late afternoon into the evening.

The practical plan for a day-tripper from Bhuj is to leave before dawn for a morning darshan, or leave mid-morning to arrive for the evening reopening and catch the sunset aarti at Koteshwar. Avoid arriving in the early afternoon. There is no ticketing system to worry about, so timing is purely about the temple hours and the light.
