Nageshwar Jyotirlinga: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Nageshwar: Nearby Temples & TirthsNageshwar sits within reach of Dwarkadhish Temple, Somnath, Bhalka Tirth, so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Nageshwar is rarely visited alone; it is a bead on the Dwarka string. The obvious pairing is Dwarkadhish, Krishna's towering Char Dham temple on the Gomti roughly 17 km south, which most pilgrims see first before driving out to Nageshwar. Between the two lie the smaller but atmospheric stops on the Okha road, and beyond Nageshwar the boat crossing to Bet Dwarka, the island where Krishna is believed to have lived.

For those on a dedicated Shiva pilgrimage, the natural onward journey is to Somnath, the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, about 230 km down the Saurashtra coast. Completing both Gujarat Jyotirlingas in one trip is a common devotional goal, and the drive south passes through Porbandar, Krishna's Sudama connection and Gandhi's birthplace.

Adjacent to Somnath sits Bhalka Tirth, the poignant spot where Krishna is said to have left the mortal world, usually visited in the same breath as Somnath. Together these give a Nageshwar trip two clear directions: a compact half-day loop around Dwarka, or a longer coastal pilgrimage linking Gujarat's Krishna and Shiva shrines.
