Padmanabhaswamy is about as central as a great temple gets. It stands at East Fort (Kizhakkekotta) in the middle of Thiruvananthapuram, so the three arrival points, the airport, the railway station and the bus stand, are all within a few kilometres. Thiruvananthapuram Central railway station is only about 1 km away, a five to ten minute auto ride, and the adjoining Thampanoor KSRTC stand handles long-distance buses.
Flying in, Trivandrum International Airport (TRV) is roughly 4 to 6 km out, about 15 to 25 minutes by taxi to East Fort, with domestic links and a strong bank of Gulf connections. The city bus stand at East Fort literally faces the temple, so local buses drop you at the doorstep.
By road, the nearest sizeable city is Kollam, about 65 km and 1.5 to 2 hours north on NH66 (approx). Kanyakumari is roughly 85 to 90 km south and Kochi around 200 km north, both comfortable drives that pilgrims often chain with other Kerala and Tamil Nadu shrines. Once you reach East Fort, the last stretch to the sanctum is a short, easy walk through the temple approach.
