Ambabai of Kolhapur, where the setting sun bows to the goddess

In the heart of old Kolhapur stands the black-stone Ambabai, a gem-studded image roughly three feet tall and weighing about 40 kg, crowned with a five-hooded serpent. This is one of the Shakti Peethas and counts among Maharashtra's revered Saade-Teen Shakti Peethas.
