Beyond the sarais, the old city around the temple is packed with budget lodges and mid-range hotels within a 5 to 10 minute walk, and Amritsar has plenty of business and heritage hotels near the Heritage Street and Ranjit Avenue. Because the langar feeds everyone free around the clock, pilgrims can eat and sleep here on almost nothing.
