Few major temples in India are as easy to reach as Dakshineswar, because two mass-transit lines terminate almost at its gate. The Kolkata Metro Blue Line ends at Dakshineswar station, roughly half a kilometre from the temple along a signposted, shop-lined walk; this is the most traffic-proof way in from central Kolkata. In parallel, suburban EMU trains from Sealdah reach Dakshineswar railway station in about 30 to 40 minutes, and that platform too is within walking distance of the complex.
By road the temple lies on the northern fringe of the metro area in North 24 Parganas, around 16 to 20 km up BT Road from the Esplanade core, served by buses, taxis and app cabs. From the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport it is roughly 9 to 14 km, a 30 to 45 minute drive depending on traffic. A lovely fourth option is the Hooghly ferry: boats link Dakshineswar with Belur Math on the far bank, letting pilgrims fold both shrines and a river crossing into a single morning. Confirm the last ferry timing before you rely on it for the return.
