The pleasant season runs from October to March, when the Nallamala hills are cool and the forest drive is at its best; the plains below turn harshly hot from April to June, so most non-festival pilgrims aim for the winter months. That said, the temple's greatest energy comes not from the weather but from its festival calendar.
Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavam, falling in February or March, is the single largest event, a multi-day celebration with the Prabhotsavam procession and immense overnight crowds; expect the town to be packed and normal booking systems paused. In autumn, the Bhramaramba Devi Navaratri around September or October honours the goddess of the Shakti Peeth with nine nights of alankarams and processions, a highlight for Shakta devotees.
