Swaminarayan Akshardham, Delhi: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Swaminarayan Akshardham: Nearby Temples & TirthsSwaminarayan Akshardham sits within reach of Banke Bihari, Vrindavan, Prem Mandir, Vrindavan, Mansa Devi, Haridwar, so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Akshardham pairs naturally with the Braj circuit to the south. Vrindavan, about 150 km down the Yamuna Expressway, is an easy day-trip or overnight, home to the beloved Banke Bihari temple and the modern, floodlit Prem Mandir whose evening light display is a spectacle in its own right. Mathura and the wider Braj bhoomi of Krishna's childhood are the same run, making a Delhi-Vrindavan-Mathura loop the most common add-on for pilgrims.

To the north, the Ganga pilgrimage towns open up. Haridwar, roughly 210 km away, offers the hilltop Mansa Devi shrine reached by ropeway and the famous Ganga aarti at Har Ki Pauri, and it is the gateway onward to Rishikesh and the Char Dham. Within Delhi itself, the Chhatarpur temple, the Lotus Temple and Kalkaji Mandir round out a city temple day if you would rather not travel far, but for a genuine pilgrimage extension the Vrindavan and Haridwar directions are the two that reward the drive.
