Umiya Mata Temple, Unjha: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Umiya Mata: Nearby Temples & TirthsUmiya Mata sits within reach of Modhera Sun Temple, Bahucharaji Temple, Ambaji Temple, so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Unjha sits in a dense cluster of North Gujarat pilgrimage sites, which makes it easy to build a two or three-temple loop. The obvious pairing is the Modhera Sun Temple, roughly 35 to 40 km away, where the Solanki-era Surya shrine and its magnificent stepped kund are a complete change of register from a living community temple. Bahucharaji, another of Gujarat's major Shakti shrines and itself a kuldevi to many families, lies a similar distance off and slots naturally into a goddess-focused itinerary.

Heading further north toward the Rajasthan border brings you to Ambaji, one of the state's most important Shakti pithas, about 90 to 100 km via Palanpur, a feasible day trip or an overnight extension. Vadnagar, with its ancient torans and the Hatkeshwar temple, is also within an easy drive for travellers who want to fold history and architecture into a temple run.
