How to reach Sringeri Sharada Peetham (Sri Sharadamba Temple)
Sringeri sits deep in the Malnad hills of the Western Ghats, so the last leg is always by road through ghat country. There is no station or airstrip in the town itself; you converge on it from the coast (Mangaluru or Udupi) or the Deccan side (Shivamogga).

Dress code & temple rules
Traditional Indian attire is expected: men in dhoti or trousers with a shirt, women in saree, salwar-kameez or long skirt.
Shorts, sleeveless tops, mini-skirts and beachwear are discouraged inside the temple precinct.
Footwear is removed before entering the temple; leave it at the stands outside.
Photography is generally not permitted inside the sanctum of the Sharadamba and Vidyashankara temples; follow the posted signs and staff instructions.
Maintain silence and orderly queues, especially during the Jagadguru's puja and the night Chandramouleeshwara worship.
Men are often asked to remove shirts and wear only the upper cloth for certain sevas performed at the inner shrine, per Smarta custom.

Best time to visit & festivals
October to February brings dry, cool Malnad weather, ideal for the ghat drive and for the biggest festival window. The monsoon (June to September) drenches Sringeri and swells the Tunga; it is lush and atmospheric but travel over the ghats is slow and leech-prone.

The matha runs pilgrim guest houses and yatri nivas within walking distance of the temple, allotted through the Sringeri administration and best booked in advance, especially during Navaratri. Simple ashram-style rooms and a few private lodges and homestays sit around the town and along the Tunga, and the temple's dining hall (bhojana shala) serves free sattvic meals to devotees at fixed hours.
