Sringeri Sharada Peetham (Sri Sharadamba Temple): Aarti & Puja Schedule

Sringeri Sharada Peetham: Aarti & Puja ScheduleSahasra Kumkumarchana and other sponsored sevas are performed through the day and can be booked at the seva counter; the night Chandramouleeshwara puja, done personally by the reigning Acharya, is the spiritual high point and open to devotees who wait quietly.
  • Temple opens, morning abhisheka and suprabhata to Sharadamba6:00 AM
  • Mahamangalarati (mid-morning)10:00 AM
  • Guru Darshanam, audience with the Jagadguru (until 11:30 AM)10:30 AM
  • Midday Mahamangalarati12:00 noon
  • Evening Mahamangalarati and alankara darshan7:30 PM
  • Chandramouleeshwara puja led by the Jagadguru (8:30 PM on Fridays)9:00 PM

The daily rhythm at the Sharadamba temple is built around three Mahamangalaratis, offered at roughly 10:00 AM, 12:00 noon and 7:30 PM. These are the moments to be standing before the shrine: the goddess is fully adorned, camphor is waved, and the crowd settles into stillness. Sponsored sevas such as Sahasra Kumkumarchana are woven through the day and can be arranged at the seva counter for a set fee.

The signature ritual, though, is nocturnal. Every night the reigning Jagadguru personally conducts the Chandramouleeshwara puja, worshipping the crystal linga said to have been handed down from Adi Shankara himself, from about 9:00 PM to 10:00 PM, moved to 8:30 PM on Fridays. Unlike the goddess darshan, this is a guru-led worship, and to witness the head of the matha perform it by hand is considered a rare grace.

Because the puja depends on the Jagadguru being in residence, it is the one item most affected by his travel camps. Serious devotees time their visit to a stretch when he is at Sringeri, confirm it beforehand, and arrive early to secure a spot in the quiet hall.
