• Wear modest, traditional clothing. Men in shirt and trousers, dhoti or pyjama with an upper cloth; women in saree, salwar-kameez or chudidar. Shorts, mini-skirts, sleeveless tops, low-waist jeans and short T-shirts are discouraged.
• To enter the garbhagriha (inner sanctum) for a hands-on abhishek, male devotees are traditionally required to wear a sovala or silk dhoti with no stitched upper garment; general devotees take darshan from the sabha mandap and do not touch the linga.
• Women are traditionally not permitted into the innermost sanctum here; darshan for women and most visitors is from the outer hall.
