There is no station or airport in Trimbak, so the journey is really Nashik to Trimbak once you land in the region. Trains are the workhorse: Nashik Road station, about 39 km from the temple on the main Mumbai to Bhusawal line, is where most pilgrims arrive, then continue by taxi or state bus over the Anjaneri ghat, a ride of roughly one to one and a half hours. By air, the small Nashik (Ozar) airport has limited flights, so many fly into Mumbai (about 180 km, a four to five hour drive) instead.
By road, MSRTC state buses and shared jeeps leave frequently from Nashik's central bus stand for the 28 to 30 km run to Trimbak, taking around 45 to 60 minutes on a well-surfaced hill road. Private cars park on the edge of the small town, after which the final approach to the temple is on foot through a lane of puja shops and flower sellers. If you are combining Trimbakeshwar with Shirdi or the Ellora Jyotirlinga, hiring a car for the loop is far easier than piecing together buses.
