The rhythm of Kanaka Durga is built around treating the goddess as a living resident rather than an idol on display. The doors are drawn back around 3:00 AM for Suprabhata Seva, the ritual waking, and by roughly 4:00 AM the sarva darshanam line for ordinary devotees is moving. This pre-dawn slot is the single best time to come: the hill is cool, the queue is short, and the abhishekam is fresh on the deity.

The one thing that trips up visitors is the afternoon interval. Sometime after the midday Mahanaivedyam the sanctum closes for around two hours, roughly 4:00 to 6:15 PM, so that the goddess can be bathed and redressed in a new alankaram before the evening darshan. If you arrive at 5 PM expecting to walk straight in, you may find the doors shut. Aim for morning, or after 6:15 PM.

Every timing here is marked approx on purpose. The break window, the closing hour and the queue system all flex with the ritual calendar and the crowd, and on Dasara or a Shravana Friday the schedule is effectively rewritten for the day. Treat the numbers as a working guide and confirm the exact same-day timings with the Devasthanam if your visit is time-critical.
