Modhera Sun Temple: Timings & Darshan Hours

Modhera: Timings & Darshan HoursModhera is generally open 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, all days. Modhera is an ASI monument, not an active worship temple, so there are no morning/evening darshan slots or midday break in the devotional sense; the grounds simply stay open 6 AM to 6 PM every day including weekends and public holidays.

The clock that matters at Modhera is not a puja timetable but the sun's own schedule. Arrive in the first hour after opening, around 6 to 7 AM, and the low eastern light rakes across the Surya Kund, throwing every one of the stepped tank's terraces and shrines into sharp relief. By late morning the sun is overhead and the carving flattens out; late afternoon brings warm side-light back onto the western faces of the Sabha Mandapa.

Because access is monument-style rather than darshan-style, there is no rope-line, no VIP queue and no closure for a midday bhog. You can linger as long as you like within the 6 AM to 6 PM window. The one time-bound event is the evening solar-powered light-and-sound show, which typically runs a single roughly 20-minute slot after dusk; its exact start time and whether it runs on a given day depend on the season and crowd, so verify at the gate rather than assuming a nightly show.
