Modhera Sun Temple: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Modhera: Nearby Temples & TirthsModhera sits within reach of Bahucharaji (Bahuchar Mata), Ambaji, Dakor (Ranchhodrai), so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Modhera anchors a compact north-Gujarat heritage-and-faith loop. The closest living temple town is Bahucharaji (Becharaji), about 35 km away, one of the state's three principal Shakti Peeths and a genuine pilgrimage counterpoint to Modhera's museum-piece stillness. Many travellers pair the two in a single day: Modhera for architecture, Bahucharaji for darshan.

For a longer circuit, Ambaji lies about 100 km north in the Aravalli foothills, another major Shakti Peeth and a natural extension if you are heading toward Mount Abu. To the south-east, the Krishna temple at Dakor (Ranchhodrai), roughly 130 km away, draws huge Purnima crowds and rounds out a devotional route. Purely on heritage grounds, though, the essential companion stop is non-temple: Patan's Rani ki Vav, the UNESCO-listed stepwell just 30-35 km away, built in the same Solanki idiom and best seen the same day.
