Worship on Shatrunjaya centres on Adinath Dada in the summit Adishwar temple, and the daily rhythm is compressed into daylight because nothing can happen on the hill at night. Aarti is generally offered three times, morning, midday and evening, with the morning window being the devotional heart of the day when the shrines first open and the mangala darshan is taken.
The formal puja is elaborate. A full chanted service typically begins after the shrines open with offerings of ghee, sugar, grain and akshat (unboiled rice) along with a coconut, followed by 108 prostrations before the image of Adinath and recitation of mantras, closing with the sealing of the sanctum and distribution of prasad. Because the whole liturgy must finish before the dusk vacation of the hill, the evening aarti falls earlier than at temples that run into the night.
Special poojas to Adinath Dada are performed on auspicious and festival days and can be sponsored by devotees, but these should be pre-booked well ahead, especially around Kartik Purnima and Chaitri Purnima when demand for slots is intense.
