Palitana anchors a Saurashtra pilgrim circuit that pairs naturally with other sacred climbs and coastal shrines. The closest thematic sibling is Girnar near Junagadh, roughly 200 km away, another towering hill with revered Jain temples partway up its stone stairway alongside Hindu shrines at the peaks; pilgrims who love the discipline of a barefoot ascent often do both.
Toward the coast, Somnath (approx 215 km) offers a complete change of register: the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, a seaside Shiva temple rebuilt across centuries, easily combined with Girnar on a Junagadh-Somnath loop. Closer to the Ahmedabad road, the hilltop Chamunda Mata shrine at Chotila (approx 160 km) makes a short, sharp sacred climb that breaks a long drive.
For a Jain-focused itinerary, Palitana is the crown of the five great tirths, and travellers frequently thread it together with Girnar's Jain temples to experience Gujarat's two holiest hills in one trip.
