Somnath is one of the easier coastal shrines in Gujarat to reach because it has a station almost at the temple wall. The small Somnath halt is a short walk away, while Veraval Junction, 7 km inland, is the real hub where trains from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Mumbai and beyond terminate. From Veraval, shared autos and taxis run continuously to the temple.
By air the honest picture is that the nearest strip, Diu at roughly 85 km, has thin schedules. Most fly-in pilgrims land at Rajkot (about 200 km) or Ahmedabad (about 390 km) and drive or bus down through Junagadh. The road via Junagadh is the classic pilgrim route and pairs naturally with a stop at Girnar.
Within the town everything of interest sits within a few kilometres of the sea, so once you have reached Somnath you rarely need more than an auto. Buses from the Gujarat state transport network and private operators link Somnath with Diu, Porbandar and the wider Saurashtra circuit.
