Vadtal Swaminarayan Temple: Aarti & Puja Schedule

Vadtal Swaminarayan: Aarti & Puja ScheduleMangala, Shringar and Rajbhog aartis are firmly documented; the afternoon Uthapan and the Sandhya and Shayan timings follow the standard Vadtal Gadi pattern and can move by 10 to 15 minutes seasonally.
  • Mangala Aarti, the first darshan after the deities are woken5:30 AM (5:15 AM on Purnima)
  • Shringar Aarti, after the deities are bathed and dressed7:15 AM
  • Rajbhog Aarti, the main midday food offering before the sanctum rests10:10 AM
  • Uthapan darshan, when the deities are roused for the evening3:30 PM
  • Sandhya Aarti at dusk6:30 PM
  • Shayan Aarti, the final darshan before the deities are put to rest8:30 PM

Vadtal keeps the full six-fold aarti cycle of a major Swaminarayan hari mandir, and catching one is the difference between seeing the temple and feeling it. The day opens with Mangala Aarti at 5:30 AM, shifted earlier to 5:15 AM on Purnima, when the deities are woken. Shringar Aarti follows around 7:15 AM after they have been bathed and freshly dressed and ornamented, which is arguably the most beautiful darshan of the day. Rajbhog Aarti near 10:10 AM accompanies the grand midday food offering before the sanctum closes.

In the afternoon the deities are roused for Uthapan darshan around 3:30 PM, then honoured at Sandhya Aarti near 6:30 PM as the lamps are lit at dusk, and finally at Shayan Aarti about 8:30 PM before they are put to rest. The lamp-and-bell aartis, especially Shringar and Sandhya, are when the drums, conch and collective singing fill the nine-domed hall. Arrive ten to fifteen minutes ahead to find a spot, and remember that on crowded festival days the flow is managed in a moving queue rather than a still gathering.
