Maihar Sharda Devi Temple: Where to Stay

Most pilgrims stay in Maihar town itself, which has budget dharamshalas, guesthouses and a few basic hotels near the station and the hill base; the larger city of Satna (approx 35-40 km) offers more mid-range hotel choice. Rooms fill fast and rates jump during both Navratris, so book ahead for festival dates.

Most pilgrims base themselves in Maihar town, which is small but geared to visitors, with budget dharamshalas, trust guesthouses and a handful of basic hotels clustered near the railway station and the hill base. For a simple overnight before an early-morning darshan, staying within the town keeps you close to both the steps and the ropeway.

For more choice and slightly better standards, the larger city of Satna, about 35 to 40 km away, offers a wider range of mid-range hotels and is itself a major rail junction, making it a practical hub if you are combining Maihar with Khajuraho or other MP stops.

The key planning note is festival demand: during both Navratris rooms in Maihar sell out and rates climb sharply, so book well ahead if your visit falls in September-October or March-April, and consider Satna as an overflow base if Maihar is full.
