Maihar Sharda Devi Temple: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Maihar Sharda Devi: Nearby Temples & TirthsMaihar Sharda Devi sits within reach of Khajuraho Group of Temples, Maa Vindhyavasini, Mirzapur, Mahakaleshwar, Ujjain, so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Maihar sits in the temple-rich Vindhya belt of eastern Madhya Pradesh, so it pairs naturally with other pilgrimage and heritage stops. The most obvious add-on is the Khajuraho group of temples, roughly 130 km away, whose UNESCO-listed sculpture is often folded into the same tour that brings travellers to Maihar.

For devotees specifically chasing Shakti shrines, Maa Vindhyavasini at Mirzapur, about 190 km toward Varanasi, is another powerful hilltop goddess temple in the same Vindhya tradition. Further afield but on many MP itineraries is Mahakaleshwar at Ujjain, the state's most celebrated Jyotirlinga famous for its pre-dawn Bhasma Aarti, which makes a strong contrast to Maihar's mountain-goddess character. At the foot of Trikut Hill itself, do not miss the Alha Pond and Alha Akhada, the arena tied to the immortal-devotee legend.
