This is an active, tightly run royal temple, not a monument, and the rules reflect that. Dress conservatively: shoulders and knees covered, no shorts or sleeveless tops in the sanctum. Footwear and all leather articles, belts and wallets included, come off before you enter the complex.

The firmest rule is on photography. Cameras and phones are banned inside and must be deposited at the entrance counter, so do not plan on sanctum photos. Bags are also left outside. Inside the inner hall keep your voice down and move with the queue, since the darshan windows are short and the crowd concentrates.
