The spiritual heart of the Khatu calendar is Phalguna Shukla Ekadashi, the day Barbarika's severed head is believed to have become immortal. Around it the town holds the Phalgun Lakkhi Mela, a roughly twelve-day fair running from Pratipada to Dwadashi and ending 8-9 days before Holi, when lakhs of devotees converge, many walking in from distant cities carrying Nishan flags. It is by far the biggest and most charged time to visit, and also the most crowded and logistically demanding.

If you prefer darshan without the crush, the broader October to March window offers pleasant Rajasthan weather, while every Shukla Ekadashi and most Fridays and Saturdays bring a weekly surge of pilgrims. Janmashtami is marked with special shringar since Shyam Baba is worshipped in Krishna's name, and Holi follows straight on the heels of the mela, so late winter concentrates the year's devotional energy.
