Ranakpur Jain Temple: Timings & Darshan Hours

Ranakpur Jain: Timings & Darshan HoursRanakpur Jain is generally open . The single most important rule at Ranakpur: non-Jains and general tourists are allowed inside the temple only between roughly 12 noon and 5 PM, because the mornings are kept for Jain puja and abhishek.

The clock is the thing most visitors get wrong at Ranakpur. The temple physically opens early, around 6:30 AM, but that early window belongs to the Jain community for prakshal (ritual bathing of the idols), abhishek and morning puja. General tourists and non-Jain visitors are not let into the temple until about 12 noon, and the viewing window then runs until roughly 5 PM. If you drive up from Udaipur hoping for a quiet 9 AM look at the pillars, you will be turned back at the gate.

There is little seasonal variation in these hours, and no long midday shutdown for tourists, because noon is precisely when the doors open to them. What does move is the festival calendar: on Mahavir Jayanti or during Paryushan the rhythm inside changes and crowds swell. The complex grounds and the smaller shrines stay accessible into the evening, up to around 7 PM. Because the Anandji Kalyanji Trust manages the timings and they are not rigidly published, the honest advice is to phone ahead or ask at the gate office, and to treat the noon-to-5 rule as the fixed point to plan around.
