Ramanathaswamy Temple, Rameshwaram: Aarti & Puja Schedule

Ramanathaswamy: Aarti & Puja ScheduleTimes are approximate and can move by a few minutes with crowd and festival load; the early Spatika (crystal) lingam ritual and the closing Palliarai puja are the two most sought moments of the day.

  • Sayaratcha Puja (evening protection puja)6:00 PM
  • Arthajama Puja8:30 PM
  • Palliarai Puja, the deity escorted to the bed chamber before closing8:45 PM

The ritual day begins before dawn with the Spatika Lingam Abhishekam around 5:00 AM, when the crystal lingam is bathed with Ganga water, milk and other sacred offerings, followed by its Deeparadhana around 5:10 AM. This crystal-lingam moment is the single most sought darshan of the day and draws a dedicated early queue.

Through the morning the pujas move in a fixed rhythm: Thiruvananthal around 5:45 AM, Vila (bilva-leaf) Puja near 7:00 AM, Kalasanthi at 10:00 AM and the midday Uchikalam at noon. After the midday break the evening cycle picks up with Sayaratcha around 6:00 PM, Arthajama near 8:30 PM and the intimate Palliarai puja around 8:45 PM, when the deity is ceremonially escorted to the bed chamber before the temple closes.

Each of these carries its own arati and small offering; pilgrims often time their visit to catch either the opening Spatika ritual or the closing Palliarai. Exact minutes shift a little with crowd and festival load, so use these as a reliable guide rather than a fixed clock.
