Tiruchendur runs a long single day rather than the split-shift schedule common at many South Indian temples. The doors open around 5:00 AM for Thirupalli Eluchi, and the day's first and most prized sight is the Viswaroopa darshan at roughly 5:30 AM, when the sanctum lamps are lit and the Lord is seen fresh after waking. If you can only make one slot, this dawn window is the one: the sea air is cool, the crowd is thin, and the abhishekam that follows around 6:15 AM is unhurried.

Through the middle of the day the tempo eases. The Uchikala abhishekam near 10:30 AM and the noon deeparadhanai are worth catching, after which the sanctum quietens until the evening Sayaratchai pooja around 5:00 PM. The night Arthasama abhishekam near 7:15 PM and the closing sequence up to about 9:00 PM are the other high points. On Skanda Sashti, Masi and Aavani festival days the hours stretch and darshan can take three to four hours, so treat the published times as a frame that flexes with the crowd and the ritual calendar.
