| Mode | Point | Distance | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Train | Varanasi Junction (Cantt) / Varanasi City / Kashi | Cantt approx 4.5 km; Varanasi City approx 2 km | Varanasi Junction (Cantt) is the main long-distance hub; Varanasi City and Kashi stations sit closer to the old city. Take an auto or e-rickshaw to Godowlia, then walk in. |
| Air | Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Babatpur | approx 25 km | Nearest airport, on the Varanasi-Jaunpur road; taxi to Godowlia takes roughly 45-60 minutes depending on old-city traffic. |
| Road | Godowlia crossing / Maidagin | Last approx 300-600 m on foot | Autos, e-rickshaws and cabs stop at Godowlia or Maidagin; the innermost lanes are pedestrian-only. Follow signs to the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor gates. |
| River | Dashashwamedh / Manikarnika Ghat | Corridor links temple to the Ganga | Since Dec 2021 the corridor connects the ghats directly to the temple, so pilgrims can bathe in the Ganga and walk up to the sanctum. |
No vehicle reaches the temple door, and that surprises first-time pilgrims. The old city around Vishwanath Gali is a maze of pedestrian lanes, so every route ends with a walk. Cabs, autos and e-rickshaws drop you at Godowlia crossing or Maidagin, from where it is a few hundred metres on foot to the Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor gates.
By train, Varanasi Junction (Cantt) is the main arrival point at about 4.5 km, well connected to Delhi, Lucknow, Prayagraj and Kolkata; Varanasi City and Kashi stations sit closer to the old town at roughly 2 km. By air, Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at Babatpur is about 25 km out, a 45 to 60 minute drive that can stretch in old-city traffic.
The game-changer since December 2021 is the corridor itself, which links the temple directly to the Ganga. Pilgrims can now take a boat or walk up from Dashashwamedh or Manikarnika Ghat, bathe in the river, and approach the sanctum through the open Dham complex rather than squeezing through the historic alleys alone.
