Hatkeshwar anchors a compact North Gujarat pilgrimage-and-heritage circuit, and the smart move is to string several stops into one loop rather than treat the temple in isolation. Closest is Umiya Mata Temple at Unjha, about 30 km, the imposing seat of the Kadva Patidar mother goddess and an easy add-on.
Roughly 50 km away lies the Modhera Sun Temple, the 11th-century Solanki masterpiece with its stepped Surya Kund, which pairs beautifully with Vadnagar's own carved heritage for an architecture-focused day. For a bigger pilgrimage, Ambaji, about 95 km north in the Aravalli foothills, is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and draws pilgrims year-round.
Within Vadnagar itself, do not miss the 12th-century Kirti Toran arches, the Sharmishtha lake, and the Solanki-era stepwells, all a short ride from the temple and part of the same heritage town that has drawn national attention.
