Shamlaji Temple: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Shamlaji: Nearby Temples & TirthsShamlaji sits within reach of Ambaji Temple, Dakor Ranchhodrai Temple, Modhera Sun Temple, so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Shamlaji anchors the northeastern, Aravalli corner of Gujarat, which makes it a natural start or end point for a north Gujarat temple loop rather than a coastal one. The most sensible pairing is Ambaji, the major Shakti Peeth up near the Rajasthan border, roughly 130 to 150 km away and reachable on the same hill highways; many pilgrims combine the two on a single trip.

Heading back toward central Gujarat, Dakor with its beloved Ranchhodrai (Krishna) shrine sits about 130 km south and rhymes neatly with Shamlaji's own Krishna association. Architecture lovers should add the Modhera Sun Temple, roughly 150 km west, a Solanki-era masterpiece from the same 11th-century building world that produced Shamlaji's carved core. Closer to hand, the Shamlaji complex itself holds several older subsidiary shrines, including the 9th-century Harishchandrani Chauri and nearby Shiva temples, worth an unhurried walk before you leave.
