Kollur Mookambika Temple: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Kollur Mookambika: Nearby Temples & TirthsKollur Mookambika sits within reach of Udupi Sri Krishna Matha, Sringeri Sharada Peetha, Gokarna Mahabaleshwar, so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Kollur sits in one of the richest temple belts in India, so it is easy to build a multi-day circuit. The natural spiritual pairing is Sringeri Sharada Peetha, roughly 75 km inland, the first of Adi Shankaras four mutts and the seat of Goddess Sharada; since Mookambika is herself worshipped as Saraswati, the two make a coherent goddess-of-learning journey. On the coast, Udupi Sri Krishna Matha, about 80 km south, is the celebrated Madhwacharya shrine where Krishna is seen through the silver Kanakana Kindi window.

Heading north up the shoreline, Gokarna Mahabaleshwar, around 120 km, is the great Atmalinga Shiva kshetra and pairs well with a beach halt. Devotees with more time also weave in Kukke Subramanya and Dharmasthala further inland toward the Ghats. Because these sites spread across coast and hill country, plan the route by geography rather than distance alone; the roads wind, and monsoon rain slows the Ghat sections considerably.
