Worship at Tirumala follows the Vaikhanasa Agama, one of the oldest surviving Vishnu ritual traditions, with a fixed daily cycle. It opens with Suprabhatam around 2:30 to 3:00 AM, the hymns that wake the Lord. Thomala Seva follows around 3:30 to 4:00 AM, when the deity is dressed in tulasi and fresh flower garlands. Then come Koluvu and Panchanga Sravanam around 4:00 AM, a formal assembly where the day's panchangam (almanac) is read to the Lord, and the first Sahasranamarchana around 4:15 AM, reciting his 1,008 names.

Most of these are Arjitha sevas, meaning they are paid rituals with a limited number of tickets that regular Sarva Darshan pilgrims do not sit through; the tickets are released on the TTD portal and go quickly. Through the day other archanas and abhishekams continue, and the cycle closes with Ekanta Seva around 1:00 AM, when the Lord is laid to rest, a seva that shifts during the month of Dhanurmasam when Tiruppavai is recited. If you want to witness a full seva rather than the quick standing darshan, plan and book weeks ahead.
