Dakor is an active devotional shrine, not a monument, so the etiquette is that of a living temple. Traditional, modest clothing is expected: for many pilgrims that means kurta-pyjama, dhoti or a saree, but any respectful attire that covers shoulders and legs is fine. Footwear comes off before you enter, and shoe-keeping stalls line the approach so you are not carrying them.

Leather is the rule that catches visitors out. Belts, wallets, purses and bags made of leather are not taken inside the sanctum area, a common restriction at Vaishnav temples, so it is easiest to leave them in your vehicle or accommodation. Photography and video are not permitted inside the sanctum, and drones are discouraged around the temple, so keep cameras and phones put away once you are in the darshan line.

A distinctive local custom is the holy dip in Gomti lake before darshan; many pilgrims bathe there first as an act of purification, then proceed to the temple. On Poonam days the crowds are immense, so keep valuables minimal, hold children close, and follow the queue barriers and volunteer directions.
