How to reach Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple
Guruvayur is unusually easy to reach for a major pilgrimage town because it has its own railway terminus a few minutes' walk from the East Nada (main entrance), plus a dense bus network from Thrissur and Kochi.

Dress code & temple rules
Men and boys must remove all upper garments: no shirt, banian or T-shirt inside. The traditional wear is a mundu (dhoti) tied at the waist, bare-chested, with only a small angavastram (upper cloth) permitted over the shoulder.
Boys may wear shorts but must be bare above the waist. Trousers, jeans, lungis worn folded up, and bermudas are not accepted for men.
Women wear a saree, set-mundu (Kerala mundum neriyathum), or half-saree; the rule has been relaxed to allow churidar or salwar kameez. Skirts, trousers, jeans, and shorts are not permitted.
Only Hindus are allowed inside the temple; non-Hindus are not permitted past the entrance.
Mobile phones, cameras and leather items are typically not allowed inside the sanctum area; deposit them at the counters before joining the queue.

Where to stay
Most pilgrims stay in the dense cluster of lodges and hotels around the East and West Nada, within walking distance of the temple. The Guruvayur Devaswom (temple board) runs several of its own guest houses and rest homes such as Panchajanyam, Sreevalsam, Manjulal and other Devaswom bhavans that offer clean, affordable rooms and are best booked ahead through the Devaswom, especially around Ekadasi and the Utsavam. A wide range of private budget lodges, mid-range hotels and a few premium properties fill the surrounding streets, and many include early wake-up help so guests can reach the 3 AM nirmalya darshanam. Thrissur city, 30 km away, is a fallback for larger hotels.
