The mountain has one clearly best season and two unforgettable festivals. Aim for November to February: the air is cool, the sky usually clear, and the climb is merely hard rather than dangerous. From March the exposed stone steps grow brutally hot by late morning, and through the monsoon they turn slick and risky, so those months are for the very fit and cautious only.
