Mount Abu is Rajasthan's only hill station, perched around 1,220 m, so it escapes the fierce heat of the plains. The most comfortable window for visiting Dilwara is October to March, when the air is cool and the marble is a pleasure to walk on barefoot. Summers stay mild by Rajasthan standards, and the monsoon turns the surrounding Aravallis lush and green, though it can be misty.
The temple calendar peaks with two Jain occasions. Mahavir Janma Kalyanak, around March to April, marks the birth of Mahavira with special pujas, and Paryushan in August to September is the great Shvetambara period of fasting and forgiveness, when ritual activity and pilgrim numbers surge.
