Shri Mata Vaishno Devi: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi: Nearby Temples & TirthsShri Mata Vaishno Devi sits within reach of Amarnath Cave, Chintpurni, Jwala Ji, so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Vaishno Devi anchors the North Indian Devi circuit, and pilgrims often chain it with other Goddess shrines across Jammu, Himachal and Punjab. The closest thematic companions are the Shakti temples of Himachal: Chintpurni, a revered Shakti Peeth, and Jwala Ji, the temple of the eternal natural flame. Both sit on the classic multi-shrine Devi darshan route that many families complete in a single trip, usually combined with Naina Devi and the Kangra shrines.

Within Jammu and Kashmir itself, the natural pairing is Amarnath, the other great cave pilgrimage of the state, where an ice lingam is worshipped after a Himalayan trek during the short summer Amarnath Yatra season. It is a very different journey in scale and timing, but it shares the cave-and-mountain character that defines Vaishno Devi.

Closer to Katra, day visitors often add the local temples around the town and the Bhairavnath temple above the Bhawan, traditionally visited after Vaishno Devi darshan to complete the yatra. For a longer regional plan, Amritsar and the Golden Temple lie within easy road reach and are commonly combined with a Katra trip.
