Salasar Balaji: Nearby Temples & Tirths

Salasar Balaji: Nearby Temples & TirthsSalasar Balaji sits within reach of Khatu Shyam Ji, Karni Mata Temple, Deshnoke, Brahma Temple, Pushkar, so most pilgrims combine them into one trip.

Salasar sits at the heart of a natural Shekhawati and desert-Rajasthan pilgrim circuit, so few people come for it alone. The single most common pairing is Khatu Shyam Ji, about 100 km away in Sikar district, where the deified head of Barbarik is worshipped as Shyam; the Salasar-Khatu-Shyam run (often with Rani Sati at Jhunjhunu) is almost a fixed itinerary for Rajasthani and North Indian devotees.

On the desert side, Karni Mata Temple at Deshnoke near Bikaner, roughly 140 km out, makes a striking add-on. It is famous worldwide as the temple where hundreds of holy rats (kabas) are revered, and it slots neatly into a Salasar-Bikaner leg.

A little farther, at about 190 km, is the Brahma Temple at Pushkar, one of the very few temples anywhere dedicated to the creator god Brahma, set beside the sacred Pushkar lake. Distances here are approximate road figures; pilgrims with more time often string several of these together into a three or four day Rajasthan temple loop.
