How to reach Brahma Temple, Pushkar
Pushkar sits in a valley on the far side of the Nag Pahar hill from Ajmer, so almost everyone arrives via Ajmer and covers the last stretch by road over the Pushkar Ghati. The temple is in the heart of the old town, a short walk from the main lake and bazaar; vehicles stop at the edge of the pedestrian core.

Dress code & temple rules
Dress modestly: cover shoulders and knees; avoid shorts and sleeveless tops out of respect at the sanctum.
Remove footwear and leather items before entering; use the shoe stands at the entrance.
Photography and mobile phones are restricted inside the temple; keep them away near the sanctum.
By long tradition, married householders do not step into the innermost sanctum; hand your offering to the priest, who presents it on your behalf.
Keep flowers, prasad and offerings simple; buy from the stalls outside rather than carrying leather bags in.

Best time to visit & festivals
October to March is the pleasant window, when Pushkar's desert heat eases and the lake and ghats are at their best. The single biggest occasion is Kartik Purnima, which coincides with the Pushkar Fair; expect enormous crowds but also the town at its most alive.

Most pilgrims stay in Pushkar town itself, within walking distance of the temple and lake. Options run from dharamshalas and simple guesthouses around the ghats and bazaar to mid-range lakeside hotels and the RTDC property; budget backpacker lodges are plentiful. During the Pushkar Fair and Kartik Purnima the RTDC and private operators set up a large tent city on the fair grounds, and rooms are booked out weeks ahead, so reserve early. Ajmer, about 14 km away, offers additional hotels if Pushkar is full.
